On this page we aim to provide regularly updated info about the conditions for travel to / from Romania and Europe, from verified, official sources. Last update 4.04, 16:30



As of 22nd of March, 22:00, all national borders will be closed for entry - the measure applies to all foreign travelers and stateless persons, except for persons in transit through designated corridors. Exceptions also apply in the following situations:
    • family members of Romanian citizens;
    • family members of other member states of the European Union or of the European Economic Area or of the Swiss Confederation, who reside in Romania; 
    • persons who hold a long-term visa, a residence permit or a document equivalent to the residence permit issued by the Romanian authorities or an equivalent document issued by the authorities of other states, according to the law of the European Union; 
    • persons traveling for professional interest (proof: visa, residence permit or other equivalent document); 
    • diplomatic or consular staff, staff of international organizations, military staff or staff who can provide humanitarian aid; 
    • passengers in transit, including those repatriated as a result of granting consular protection; 
    • passengers traveling on imperative grounds (medical or family); 
    • persons who need international protection or protection for other humanitarian reasons. 
Flights to/from France, Germany, Italy and Spain are temporarily cancelled.

As of 5.04, 23:00, flights to/from Austria, Belgium, Iran, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Turkey, UK and the US are cancelled for 14 days.

Domestic flights by national carrier Tarom are suspended as of 25.03.

As of 3.04, all persons travelling to Romania from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Netherlands,Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, UK, or the US will be quarantined, while those travelling from any other country are required to self-isolate for 14 days.

European Union

Currently, there are temporary restrictions on non-essential travel to the EU for non-EU citizens (30 days, as of 16.03)

International Air Transport Association, News on travel conditions worldwide (continuously updated)

JORDAN: As of 17th of March, all flights, except commercial freight flights are suspended, while sea and land borders are closed for travelers.
MOROCCO: As of March 15, the Moroccan government has suspended all flights to Algeria, Belgium, China, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain, as well as passenger ferry services. The land borders with Ceuta and Melilla, the autonomous Spanish territories on the coast of Morocco, are also currently closed.
VIETNAM: As of 17th of March, passengers travelling from EU/EEA & UK countries cannot enter its territory.
