Every two years the European Network of Global and Universal History (ENIUGH) is pleased to announce the Walter Markov Prize and this time we do so for the year 2021.

The prize honours an outstanding PhD- or MA-thesis that contributes to the research fields of Walter Markov, especially the comparative exploration of revolutions; social movements and decolonisation processes in Africa, Asia, and Latin America; historiographical traditions in various national contexts, and academic internationalisation in the course of the 20th century.

Papers that are submitted for the Walter-Markov-Prize are expected to take a global perspective on its subject, either by addressing it from a comparative point of view, by examining processes of cultural transfers, or by seeking to understand the entanglements of various spatial frameworks.

The successful applicant will receive € 1,500 which is meant to support the publication of his / her research.

The selecting committee will consider manuscripts (in German, English, or French) of outstanding MA or phD theses that had been submitted to the respective institution after January 2019. Applicants should submit their manuscripts, a summarizing abstract of 250 words and a brief CV electronically and as one PDF file to: headquarters@eniugh.org. The deadline for submissions is 30 April 2020.
