Ioana BANACH is Deputy Director of the Green European Foundation. An Alumna of the Faculty of Political Science, University of Bucharest, and of the MA European Public Affairs of the University of Maastricht, she started her career first through internships at the European Parliament and the UN. Then, for almost a decade she worked in non-profit and political organizations from Romania, Switzerland, The Netherlands and Belgium, becoming an expert on the management of political education programs as instrument for promoting political activism and citizen participation to European democratization processes.



Event organized with the support of the Centre for International Cooperation and Development Studies (IDC) of the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Bucharest (FSPUB) as part of the professional seminars within the faculty’s MA program in International Public Affairs (MIPA).


The event takes place in English and it was designed for students of the MIPA program. FSPUB students specializing in EU affairs outside the MIPA program may also attend.

María José PÉREZ is Senior Lecturer in International Relations at the Faculty of Media & Communication Science of the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain. She teaches International Relations to undergraduates in Journalism and Audiovisual Communication, as well as Russian Foreign Policy to master students. Her current research focuses on Russian foreign interests in regional areas, soft power and propaganda in Russian foreign policy. She has published several studies on these topics, as well as about international communication problems, especially on the role of international news agencies in the communication process.

Event organized with the support of Erasmus+ program of the European Commission, and the Centre for International Cooperation and Development Studies (IDC) of the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Bucharest (FSPUB) as part of the professional seminars within the facultys MA program in International Public Affairs (MIPA).


The event takes place in English and it was designed for students of the MIPA program, with the first part being also open to undergraduate students of International Relations and European Studies. Other FSPUB students may also attend.

Kiel Institute for the World Economy

Matthias LÜCKE is a senior researcher and member of the Management Board at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy and an adjunct professor at Kiel University. He studied economics at the University of Cologne and London School of Economics and Political Science. Between 2000 and 2003 he was a senior economist at the International Monetary Fund. His research and teaching focus on migration, development, international trade, and European integration. He has been a consultant for various national governments and international organizations.

Éric Anceau is associate professor at Sorbonne University. He is at the head of the political axis of the research laboratory LabEX EHNE (Writing a new history of Europe). He is the Vice-President of the CHPP committee (Committee of Parliamentary and Political History) and deputy director of the HES review (History, Economy and Society).He wrote, directed and codirected more than twenty publications on the political, economic and social history of France and Europe in the nineteenth century. He is especially known for his work on the Second Republic and the Second Empire. His biography, Napoléon III, Un Saint-Simon à cheval (Napoleon III, a Saint-Simon on horseback), published in 2008 and reedited in paperback in 2012, has been rewarded by several prizes, notably the Drouyn de Lhuys Prize of the Institut de France. In 2019, he is a visiting professor at the University of Bucharest, the University of Hangzhou in China and at the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Irina TĂNĂSESCU graduated in 2002 from the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Bucharest, and then completed an MA in Liberal Studies at Dartmouth College (USA) and a PhD in Political Science at the Free University of Brussels (VUB). At the European Commission (EC) since 2007, she is currently part of the Institutional Affairs Unit of the EC Secretariat General where she works on the horizontal coordination of regulatory measures (delegated and implementing acts), as well as on relations with civil society organisations. Irina has also been teaching advanced Master courses at the VUB, she is regularly invited to lecture on EU decision-making to various audiences and has published valuable research for EU scholarship and practitioners, most notably the volume The European Commission and interest groups: Towards a deliberative interpretation of stakeholder involvement in EU policy-making (VUB University Press, 2009).

Event organized with the support of the European Commission’s Back to University initiative and the Centre for International Cooperation and Development Studies (IDC) of the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Bucharest (FSPUB) as part of the professional seminars within the faculty’s MA program in International Public Affairs (MIPA), as well as with the support of the Alumni of the University of Bucharest Association as part of the Alumni Career Talks series

Delphine O is a graduate of the École Normale Supérieure, the New Sorbonne University, Pantheon-Sorbonne University, and the Harvard Kennedy School. She worked at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs - at the French embassy in South Korea and at the consulate general of France in New York from, as well as with ActionAid in Kabul, Afghanistan. A member of the French National Assembly since 2017, she is also a member of the group of experts on international affairs who drew up the foreign policy program of French President Emmanuel Macron. 

Garance PINEAU
is head of European affairs for Macron’s La République En Marche. Trained in international and European law, she spent most of her career working on labor and social issues. As a deputy director for European and international relations at Medef, France’s biggest employer federation, she took part in negotiations involving the EU and the world’s major labor organizations. Before being involved in the European Renaissance initiative, Pineau worked at France’s labour ministry, most recently as diplomatic adviser to the minister, Muriel Pénicaud, a close Macron ally.

Ambassador of Mexico to Romania


H.E. José Guillermo ORDORICA ROBLES joined the Mexican Foreign Service (MFS) in 1993 and he serves in his current position in Bucharest since January 2018. Within the MFS, he held numerous responsibility positions including those of Director for Africa and the Middle East, Deputy Director General of the Matías Romero Diplomatic Training Institute, advisor to Secretaries of Foreign Affairs, and Director for the Political Affairs Department at the Embassy of Mexico to the Holy See. He also had numerous diplomatic assignments in international forums such as the Organization of American States (OAS), the G-6, the G-8, the Rio Group 1999 Summit and the 2002 International Conference on Financing for Development. Prior to embracing diplomacy as a full-time job, he had an academic career, in which, among others, he contributed to developing internationally the MA program in Mexico-US Studies of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He is fluent in English and Italian, and he also studied French and Swahili.
