The module Country in focus: Germany is a series of guest lectures with German and other experts from embassies, cultural institutes, the business environment, political foundations, media, civil society and academia, on contemporary issues related to politics, economy and cultural debates conducted in the German-language sphere (e.g. foreign policy of Germany, cultural and civil society affairs in Germany, German political foundations, the German business environment, Franco-German relations). This new event in the series explores the Germany’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the current direction of the German foreign policy, with a focus on the role of Germany in Europe and in the world. All events take place in English. For the moment, meetings will be held exclusively online (usually on Fridays). Designed primarily for political science students, the events are open to all interested students and young professionals. --- The series of seminars “In focus” is an initiative of the Centre for International Cooperation and Development Studies (IDC) of the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Bucharest (FSPUB), and it is organized with governmental and non-governmental partner institutions. Aiming to familiarize students with the political, economic, social and cultural development of various countries around the globe, as well as with the contemporary agenda of international public affairs, this series addresses a significant gap in the Romanian social and political science education, as students rarely have the opportunity to study in more detail anything more than a handful of countries. Created in 2011 within the pilot project Professionals in International Relations and European Studies (ProRISE) which later transformed into IDC, this initiative is currently part of the curriculum of the professional MA in International Public Affairs and of the BA in International Relations and European Studies (3 ECTS extra credits). Students from different master programs of the University of Bucharest can also enroll for credits. Pending upon guest availability, especially given the dynamic context of the COVID-19 pandemic, some events may be rescheduled or postponed for the second semester. Upon completion, credits will be provided for the semester when the module started |
