On Thursday, September 30, 2021, the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Bucharest (FSPUB) is organising, together with the Circle (Extracurricular Initiative) for International Relations, Strategic Studies and Counterfactual History, and with the Hans J. Morgenthau Centre, the Online International Conference “9 / 11: Twenty Years After”.

The major goal of the Conference is that of exploring, fully using the academic means of Political Science and Strategic Studies, two main topics: 1. The immediate impact of the 9 / 11 events on the international arena; and 2. Consequences of the 9 / 11 terror attacks, and consequences of the reactions of the U.S. and of other Western powers generated by the 9/ 11 terror attacks.

We strongly underline the main organizer has already organized, in 2011, an International Conference with the topic “9 / 11: Ten Years After”, so that we are now speaking about a perfectly normal and useful continuation of an already important institutional project.

The Conference is going to start at 10:00 AM (local time, Romania) and will use Google Meet. The participants will receive, by e-mail, one or two days before, the Google Meet address of the Conference. For any questions and details, please send an e-mail to florin.diaconu@unibuc.ro. The language used by the Conference participants will be English.

Potential participants are kindly asked to send an e-mail to the address mentioned above, presenting as early as possible the topic of their paper or intervention, and the estimate duration of their intervention. We strongly prefer individual interventions no longer then 10 minutes each.

If a reasonable number of fully acceptable academic texts will be available at the end of the Conference, the organizers will publish a volume of Conference Proceedings, most probably at the University of Bucharest Publishing House.

The Hans J. Morgenthau Centre will offer three awards – Political Science and / or Strategic Studies books – to the authors of the best three papers presented by BA, MA, or PhD students, and other two awards to the students with the best and most useful interventions in the debates.
